Finnish Lapland offers a winter wonderland that has attracted visitors from all over the world. Snow-covered forests, the Northern Lights, clear days and plenty of activities are just some of the attractions that keep visitors coming back year after year, and of course Santa Claus himself! This programme has been designed to offer two of our favourite accommodations in Finnish Lapland. Both are suitable for families and couples alike. Travelling from Saariselka to Rovaniemi (or v.v) is an experience in itself and will give you a real insight into life in Finnish Lapland. Don’t be surprised to see our reindeer friends along the way.
Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ivalo
Arrival at Ivalo airport. Pick-up and bus transfer to the Wilderness Muotka hotel. Muotka is a paradise nestled in the taiga forest. The location offers a multitude of possibilities, you can either experience local winter activities or simply enjoy breath-taking surroundings. For the next three nights, you’ll be staying in a Panorama Log Cabin. These cosy rustic cabins are spacious with large panoramic windows, some overlooking the forest. You will be provided with warm winter clothes during your stay.

Day 2 & 3: Muotka
Breakfast at the hotel. We recommend that you book one of the many excursions available in advance. Autumn activities include plenty of opportunities to see the Northern Lights and enjoy nature nature-inspired tours. Winter excursions offer unique experiences: snowmobiling, ice fishing, husky and reindeer tours and many other exciting possibilities.

Day 4: Saariselkä- Rovaniemi
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the village of Kakslauttanen where you will board a local bus to travel to Rovaniemi. You will then be picked up and transferred to the magical resort of Apukka. Apukka is situated between two lakes and just 15 minutes from the city centre. Here you can experience tradition, nature and true Finnish hospitality. Warm winter clothes are provided for the duration of your stay.

Day 5 & 6: Apukka
Breakfast is served in the main restaurant. We recommend that you pre pre-book an excursion. Excursions are organised by the resort, offering guests a truly authentic experience. We have a list of recommended excursions available for the autumn and winter seasons. In addition to this winter selection, which includes reindeer and husky, we also recommend the snow train, which offers the chance to enjoy the surrounding nature in a new and comfortable way. The Apukka Sauna Experience, which includes a traditional sauna, an ice sauna and a sauna bath, is also an absolute must.
Dinners and accommodations at Apukka Resort in a Kammi glass igloo. - Day 7: Departure from Finland Breakfast at the hotel and transfer back to the airport. Departure from Rovaniemi according to your own flight itinerary.
