Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Alta
Welcome to Alta, in the Finnmark region, otherwise known as Norwegian Lapland. Transfer not included. Check-in at Trasti og Trine, 10 km from Alta City and 500 m from the Alta River. With the greatest view from your cabin, upwards to heaven and into the forest you are so close to the nature that it almost feels like sleeping outside. There is also a dog yard with 60 Alaska huskies, not fare from the lodge.

Day 2: Dog sledding adventure
Enjoy breakfast. Today, put yourself in the shoes of a musher! Your guide will explain how the farm works, how the dogs behave and, of course, how to prepare your team and drive your sled. Know that you’re in good hands and good paws! Many of them have already competed in Finnmarksløpet, the country’s biggest sledge race.

Day 3: Meeting the Sami – Ice carving – Overnight in an ice hotel
Enjoy breakfast. Departure for Sorrisniva, about 5 km from Trasti & Trine. This is a unique and exciting experience surrounded by fantastic nature in the Alta Valley. Sami guides will lead you through an experience that highlights their past and present culture. You will meet reindeer, drive your own reindeer sleigh and hear stories about Sami myths and the special song (joik) that is the cornerstone of Sami culture. During the sleigh ride, you’ll warm up by the fire in a traditional Sami tent (‘lavvo’), where you’ll enjoy hot drinks and a snack.
Upon returning to Sorrisniva, you can unwind by the fireplace before trying your hand at ice sculpting, ending with a drink at the ice bar. Dinner before settling into your ice room for an extraordinary night.

Day 4: Snowmobile
Breakfast after your night in a cold room. You will then set off on a snowmobile safari to capture the unique light of this Far North region. After receiving your safety briefing, you’ll head off into the Alta valley and then to the top of the Finnmark plateau. Return to Sorrisniva and drive to Bjørnefjell, around 35 km away.

Day 5: Snowshoe hike & ice fishing
Breakfast at the hotel. You’re getting to know the area and, as you’ve seen, nature is full of beautiful places. To make the most of it, today we suggest you put on your snowshoes and head deep into the forest to reach a frozen lake where you can try your hand at ice fishing. A teepee will also be nearby, where you’ll be served lunch. In the evening, you’ll set off on a hunt for the Northern Lights with a guide who will instruct you in photo techniques.

Day 6: Departure from Norway
Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your return flight, transfer (not included) to Alta airport.
